The company’s vice president Hugo Barra post on his twitter account @hbarra – “Good morning Vizag! Xiaomi is about to take a giant leap forward in India”.
However, Indian Express reports that, At the event in Visakhapatanam, Manu Jain, CEO Xiaomi India will gives welcome speech while Hugo Barra, Vice President, Global Xiaomi will address the people on the journey of “Xiaomi in India”. Mr Amitabh Kant (Sec. DIPP Govt. of India) present as a Guest of honor.
“Given that global smartphone sales are estimated to grow from 1.5 billion in 2015 to 1.7 billion by 2017 and India will become the second largest smartphone market by 2017 after China. company is looking to expand its presence and increase its market share in the country,” an official says.
India is the fastest growing market globally in smartphone segments. That’s why every smartphone brand want to show their presence in Indian market, under “Make in India” plan. Xiaomi, which entered the Indian market last year, said it had sold one million units till end of 2014.
The company, started their business with a partnership with Flipkart online retailer in India, after that they expand their online retail partner with Snapdeal and Amazon India. The Xiaomi India sold their product some store partner in India like, the Mobile India store, Airtel and recently tied up with Redington India.
